The 4 resorts in the Salzburger Saalachtal
Lofer, St. Martin, Unken & Weissbach
Lofer – a “market town” with history (and stories)
historical “market town” of Lofer. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart visited here and today, just as in the past, the location has provided the setting for various film productions. “James Bond”, Clint Eastwood, Richard Burton, Maximilian Schell and German actor Erol Sander in the TV series “Der Alpenklinik” have all filmed here. But the region not only attracts the movie business; our regular guests appreciate the pristine natural environment and warm hospitality of Lofer. In the summer adventurous athletes and those seeking peace and tranquillity make their way here, and Lofer is also a meeting place for skiers and snowboarders who take advantage of the mountain lifts to the Almenwelt Lofer.
St. Martin – True village living
A pure village idyll: farmhouses decorated with flowers, cosy inns next to the church, babbling streams, healing herbs along contemplative paths and delicious produce from local farmers: St. Martin has always been known for its village charm.
In the summer the village attracts visitors who love hiking and mountaineering, and simply relaxing. Many pilgrims also stop off here, because Maria Kirchental - the valley just above the village - is one of the most popular places of pilgrimage in Austria with the largest votive picture exhibition in the world. Here, next to the "Pinzgauer Dom" (the Pinzgau cathedral), the baroque church constructed by master builder Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, you will also find places for recharging your energy, the meeting house and a cosy inn, which is particular popular with tobogganers in the winter.
Unken – gateway to the Saalachtal valley
In Unken you will experience some thrilling moments at all altitudes: the village centre in the valley is also the gateway to the Saalachtal valley. Here you will find a tranquil area with extensive meadows, lovingly designed fence paths and a spacious leisure centre with an outdoor pool, indoor pool, fitness centre and saunas. A gentle climb will take you up to the picturesque Heutal valley via Unkner Boden, a small but beautiful ski area with the best pistes in the winter, ski tour routes and cross-country trails, while in summer the location transforms into a wonderful hiking and mountain biking area.
Weißbach – Nature park and mountaineering village
The very best combination of nature and culture: Weißbach, with its traditional village centre, unspoilt alpine pastures and varied mountain landscapes, has rightly received the status of a "nature park". The beauties of nature and the lovingly cultivated landscape culture meet here between the mountain and the valley, either in the impressive Seisenbergklamm gorge, on the pastures, on guided hikes with the nature park guides, on the way to the rugged summits or on the rocks of the climbing gardens.
